Fury's Fight (UFC 2010: Undisputed)

Stepping up into an
octagonal realm of
marked, scarred,
fierce-fighting men
with the spirit of
Nobunaga. Their vision,
their dream, is
to one day reign
supreme.

-----------

UFC 2010: Undisputed came out today. I played the demo when it came out for the PS3. The menus look more professional than the arcade, Midway-like games of the 90s style menu in UFC 2009. One weird thin I've never understood is the game's name. Undisputed? It is okay to use one year, but using it every year seems strange. It would be like WWF Smackdown 2: Just Bring and all subsequent games used Just Bring It as a tagline. I think it also makes the game's harder to distinguish. I know that "2010" is in there, but what many people call it for short is "Undisputed." Hell, even that name is wrong as EA Sports has their own MMA game coming out with the most generic title ever, EA Sports MMA.

The takedown, punch, kick and submit gameplay was expanded to include motions againt the cage, a bunch of new moves and more fighting styles. The game looks more fierce this year. Last year's felt like it was still living in the arcadey shadows of the Old UFC games. (I still loved it.) This years feels more like a veteran competitor, which does make a lot of sense now that the development team has had more time to understand MMA.

Battle Between Two

New Krypton and Earth
will collide under the
Sun's powerful glow,
giving Kryptonians
the Power of Zeus.
The only power the
puny humans have
is Kryptonite cannons.

---

War of the Supermen #1 came out today. It is about the war between New Krypton, the new planet for the alien race Superman is from, and Planet Earth, which is lead by Lois Lane's father, a General in the U.S. Army. Issue #0 (that sounds weird) came out for Free Comic Book Day last Saturday and it was really enjoyable. Imagine a team of Kryptonians coming to Earth where they will have super powers due to the red sun against Earth. Oh, and New Krypton is lead by General Zod. Issue #1 comes out today.

Spectacular Penguins

Oh, mighty birds that
cannot fly, you soar
higher than a leaf
anyday.

For the spring is
your time to shine
as scratch and claw
to victory.

--

I am a huge Pittsburgh Penguins hockey fan. Tonight, they play Game 3 in the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Montreal Canadiens. Sports can be dorky too, just take a look at this video.

Turning Japanese

Lovable lullabies lavishing
ladies from Far East karaoke
booths rattle cocooned moths
into fighting for Planet Earth
while middle-aged men marry
their cotton companions
as a robot developed by a
car company trots across a stage
full of beasts clamoring for
a piece of an upskirt delight.

--

Oh, Japan, you are so lovely.
